NEWS: Senior Meningitis Vaccine
Meningitis is a devastating infectious disease that often results in disability or death. It is spread primarily when people live in close quarters such as many people in a house or in dormatories. The meningitis vaccine that students get at age 11 gradually looses it's effectiveness and a booster is necessary after the age of 16. Beginning in the 2014-2015 school year, students will be required to have a second dose of meningits vaccine obtained after their 16th birthday in order to attend school their senior year. By state law, seniors without this vaccine will be excluded from school. Please see your personal health care provider or visit CVS or Walgreens in Avon to obtain this very important vaccine. Students who do not have insurance which covers vaccines can obtain them at the Hendricks County Health Department by calling 317-745-9222.
Please turn in a document of having had this vaccine to the High School Nurse.

Hendricks County Health Dept. Policy Change
The Indiana Department of Health has directed that the Hendricks County Health Dept. can no longer vaccinate children who have insurance that covers any part of childhood vaccines. As of July 1, 2011, they will only be seeing uninsured children for vaccination.
